Floor Spikes
Cheap, reliable damage on a fixed tile. Best when runners are committed to a path.
Damage profile: Low–medium
Combo tags: Pressure Plate, Deadly Door, Crossbow
How it works
Floor spikes arm a single tile with puncture damage. Adventurers stepping on the tile take damage once per trigger cycle, which makes them ideal for choke points where you can guarantee footsteps.
They scale modestly with upgrades but stay an economy trap: you deploy many of them to cover long hallways or to finish enemies weakened by ranged pressure.
Layout tips
Place spikes behind doors so the AI commits forward before the hit. Pair with a pressure plate in the same corridor so heavier enemies cannot skip the line without paying a tax.
Avoid naked spike fields without slows or stuns—fast adventurers may sprint through before enough ticks land. Use winding paths from our layout guide to maximize steps.
FAQ
Do floor spikes work with pressure plates?
Yes. Plate → spikes is a classic opener: the plate arms when they commit, and spikes punish the follow-through. See trap combos.
